Abstract
Over the past few decades, firms and markets have been revolutionized by the Internet and Information Communication Technology. The resulting advancements have redefined the characteristics of the economy, and have drawn attention to digital markets. As economic indicators have steadily become more alarming, legislators have increasingly sought to revitalize antitrust regulation to address new trends. The Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit against Amazon is pushing the limits of antitrust philosophy and the use of economic theory. This paper’s objective is to analyze the applicability of antitrust theories to the case against Amazon and discuss different outcomes considering modern economic theory.
