Abstract
The National Basketball Association (NBA), one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, relies on the infusion of young talent through the NBA draft yearly to continue the competitiveness and growth of the league. NCAA athletes have traditionally been the focus of these drafts, however, as the skill gap between international players and college athletes continues to shrink, international players will continue to rise in popularity. This paper attempts to analyze the relationship that exists between amateur performance for international NBA draft prospects and their draft position and future performance in the NBA. By using regression modeling, this paper discusses factors that impact when a player is selected in the draft as well as statistical markers within amateur performance that might allude to future performance in the NBA.
