Abstract
This study analyzes the relationship between marriage rates within U.S. counties and the demand for rental housing, particularly how marriage affects rent prices. Through the use of household demographic data from the 2022 American Community Survey, the investigation focuses on various socio-demographic factors in order to study their effect on median rent prices. This paper uses data from 827 U.S. counties and examines key variables such as marriage rates, regional distribution, average worker earnings, educational attainment, and age distribution within households. The research found that counties with higher proportions of married households were associated with higher median rent prices.
