Abstract

This project looked into the residential sector of Meadville, Pennsylvania’s Climate Action Plan, more specifically the rental sector of the plan. The main goal of this project was to determine the state and federal programs that renters can utilize to reduce their monthly costs of living and renting as well as their energy burden. I have looked at the actions that have been proposed as well as the equity benefits that have been listed in the Climate Action Plan. After looking at the equity of the plan as well as the demographics of Meadville, I determined if the programs chosen will be effective in reducing costs, emissions, and the energy burden in Meadville, Pennsylvania. After having determined the effectiveness of each of the programs, I had developed a pamphlet with a short description of each program as well as the criteria that must be met in order to apply for the program. The pamphlet will be distributed to local businesses and organizations in Meadville, Pennsylvania in order to reach the maximum number of residents. The distribution of information is necessary, as most residents who are renting their place of living are not aware of the programs they may be eligible to partake in.
