Abstract
This thesis provides an in-depth discussion on and the production of an interactive tool focusing on the benefits of data driven analysis, specifically within animal shelters. There isn’t currently a standardized data collection methodology in the shelter sector. Therefore, nonprofit organizations, such as animal shelters, typically lack data based decision making. I am providing a well-defined data analysis system that can be used to take raw data and put it into a form that is easily understood and can be leveraged by users to make decisions related to their marketing practices. This project is designed to help increase animal adoption rates, especially for under-adopted breeds and species. It creates a standardized industry-wide data collection methodology to be used in marketing and promotion by the shelters — especially addressing their challenges with breeds and species at particular risk. This project results in the development of a two part project — a standardized data collection form and a dashboard reactive to file input.
