Analyzing Productivity Increases from Robotic Process Automation (RPA): A Case Study of Acutec Precision Aerospace

Abstract
This research examines Robotic Process Automation (RPA) implementation at Acutec Precision Aerospace, a small precision manufacturing company in northwestern Pennsylvania. RPA is a software technology that allows business practices traditionally done by a human to be executed by a computer.
To evaluate RPA’s effect on processes at Acutec, RPA was implemented and compared to manual processes in terms of the difference in execution time. Next, Return on Investment (ROI) was calculated, and a Net Present Value (NPV) analysis was done to determine the financial impact on Acutec Precision Aerospace. At Acutec, results showed that RPA significantly reduced processing times across all four implementations and delivered a strong return on investment. The net present value (NPV) was positive in the short, medium, and long term, highlighting sustained financial benefits. In addition to these measurable gains, RPA also brought qualitative improvements, including reduced human error, increased employee productivity, and greater process standardization.
